Sonia-2, Uma-0

Fire doused, Brand Uma receives a setback
Hmmm, won't these politicians ever stop using the State machinery for some good use, rather than settling scores with each other? For a moment there, I thought that we might get to see some justice after all. But no, at the 11th hour, some new twist comes up, and people are simply left wondering what struck them. Politically speaking, it was a brilliant move. First force Uma Bharti to resign, then deftly steal her thunder by withdrawing the case against her and derailing her 'Tiranga yatra/Tiranga andolan', or whatever it is she called it. But dammit, the state machinery was involved. It was a flagrant misuse of the said institution, and totally unethical. On a related note, I wonder whose strategy it was. Was it Madam Sonia's strategy? If yes, she has proved herself to be a really shrewd operator. First it was her 'selfless' renunciation of the top post, then the power-without-the-responsibility position in the new government, and now the Karnataka episode. All three of them exemplary as far as political moves go. All of BJP couldn't come up with one like this even if their life depended on it. So far, Madam has managed to beat Uma Bharti twice, once when she declined the PM-ship, and now. So its Sonia-2 and Uma-0. Pretty good going for a political novice. I wonder, is her inner voice guiding her?
